Schuyler Van Vechten Hoffman V., Esq.
Mr. Hoffman received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from the Davidson College in spring of 2002. While attending Davidson, Mr. Hoffman served as president of the NC Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, chairman of the Inter-Fraternity Council and captain of the rugby team. Mr. Hoffman also played football at Davidson and was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. After graduation, Mr. Hoffman moved to Washington, D.C. where he clerked for Congressman Duncan Hunter, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. While in Washington, Mr. Hoffman served as liaison between the Congressman’s Office and the Pentagon.
Mr. Hoffman earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in spring of 2007. During law school, Mr. Hoffman was named to the Dean’s List and interned for the securities law firm of Robbins Umeda & Fink. Upon graduation, Mr. Hoffman joined Epsten Grinnell & Howell, a prominent real estate firm, focusing on homeowner association and construction defect law. He then took on the job of establishing the Loan Modification Department for the formerly largest consumer law firm in San Diego. Mr. Hoffman has reviewed over 2,000 loan modification applications and has conducted numerous seminars, educating attorneys on developing areas Loan Modification Law throughout California and Arizona.
Mr. Hoffman is fluent in Spanish. Schuyler is also a Sergeant in the San Diego County Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Assocation. He is an avid surfer and native San Diegan who remains active in the local community, having volunteered over 500 hours to Protection & Advocacy, Inc., a non-profit, disability rights advocacy firm. Mr. Hoffman is licensed to practice law in the state of California and is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.
Daniel R. Forde, Esq.
Mr. Forde received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arizona in 2002. While at the University of Arizona, Mr. Forde served as an intern for two years for United States Senator John McCain, working with constituents to resolve disputes with various federal agencies. Mr. Forde also assisted Senator McCain in his year 2000 Presidential campaign. As an undergraduate Mr. Forde served as the president and philanthropy chair of the 120-member fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta (“FIJI”). Mr. Forde earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in April 2006. During law school, Mr. Forde earned an Academic Achievement Award in Securities Regulation and authored original thesis papers providing analysis of: (i) the U.S. Sherman Antitrust Act; and (ii) the European Union’s Anti-Competition Laws. Prior to his completion of law school, Mr. Forde worked as a summer associate for the securities law firm of Robbins Umeda & Fink and also completed an internship with the San Diego City Attorney, Civil Division, working on numerous municipal bond offerings. Additionally, Mr. Forde worked as a law clerk with a solo practitioner in a major California Blue Sky securities fraud bench trial. Finally, Mr. Forde also completed an internship at British Telecom in London, England, working with in-house counsel on important corporate governance matters.
Mr. Forde previously worked as an associate with the firm of Robbins Umeda, LLP concentrating his practice in the litigation of corporate merger actions, complex class actions and securities fraud and shareholder derivative actions. At Robbins Umeda, LLP, Mr. Forde litigated and argued cases on behalf of shareholders throughout California and the United States.
Mr. Forde is an avid golfer and surfer. He is licensed to practice in the state of California and the State of Washington and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California. Mr. Forde has been named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for 2015 and 2016. Mr. Forde is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of San Diego, and the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Forde is past Chair of the Real Property Section of the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Forde is a participant in the Crawford Academy of Law Mentor Program at Crawford High School in San Diego. Mr. Forde is a licensed California Real Estate Broker with experience in residential and commercial real estate.
Erica J. Sullivan, Esq.
Mrs. Erica J. Sullivan is a native San Diegan who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University. During her studies at SDSU, she was an active member of the Criminal Justice Student Association. She also volunteered for a semester as an Investigator’s Assistant at the Office of the City Attorney, City of San Diego, Civil Division, where she assisted with the defense of SDPD officers in civil litigation matters.
She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law with a concentration in Civil Litigation. During her law school studies, Mrs. Sullivan earned her legal research certifications with both Westlaw and LexisNexis. Starting the summer after her first year of law school, and continuing throughout the remainder of her studies, she worked as a Law Clerk for Hoffman & Forde, Attorneys at Law.
Erica Sullivan is licensed to practice law in the State of California and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California. She is also a proud member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association – San Diego Chapter, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego, and the Business Networking International (BNI) Synergy Network in La Mesa.
Nicholas Kritikos, Esq.
Mr. Kritikos received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside in June of 2011. As an undergraduate, Mr. Kritikos served as the vice president of the CA Beta Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon and member of the Greek Orthodox Youth Association (“GOYA”). Mr. Kritikos earned his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from California Western School of Law in May of 2015. During law school, Mr. Kritikos continued to remain involved with Sigma Phi Epsilon as an alumni advisor and became a member of multiple student organizations. He also served as the designated tutor for Torts professor Robert Bohrer holding weekly tutoring sessions and providing one on one lessons for torts students. Additionally, Mr. Kritikos worked as a Law Clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Civil Division, working on various issues including qui tam actions, medical malpractice, and SNAP violations.
Mr. Kritikos is a first generation Greek American and is fluent in Greek. He continues to stay involved in the local Greek community and enjoys playing soccer on a weekly basis. Mr. Kritikos is licensed to practice law in the state of California and is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.
Irean Zhang, Esq.
Ms. Zhang graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Zhang was actively involved with multi-cultural student organizations, such as the United Taiwanese Association. Ms. Zhang also served as a Student Worker at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, where she gained valuable insight into the practice of law.
Ms. Zhang earned her juris doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2016. At the University of San Diego, Ms. Zhang was the Managing Editor of the San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law, an Executive Board Member for the Business Law Society, and the Chair of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic. As a member of the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team, Ms. Zhang represented the University of San Diego in international competitions in Hong Kong and Vienna. Ms. Zhang also externed for the Honorable Barbara L. Major and the Honorable Jill L. Burkhardt of the Southern District of California.
Ms. Zhang is a first generation Chinese-American and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Ms. Zhang continues to remain active in the local Chinese-American community. Ms. Zhang is licensed to practice law in the State of California. She is a proud member of the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association – San Diego Chapter, the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego, and Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego. During her free time, Ms. Zhang enjoys snowboarding and hiking the beautiful Pacific coast with her dogs.
Allan O. Cate, Esq.
In 2005, Mr. Cate graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, where he was accepted on a merit scholarship and was named to the Honor Roll. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2002. Mr. Cate strongly believes in good attorney client relationships and providing prompt attention to his clients’ needs. He understands that people seeking legal services are often times dealing with traumatic events in their lives. This understanding enables him to better serve his clients and give them due consideration and compassion, while obtaining the best results possible. As a member of the State Bar of California, Mr. Cate is admitted to practice in all California state courts, and is also certified to practice before the United States Court for the Southern District of California. Paul Caprara, Esq.
Mr. Caprara received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law in San Diego. While in law school, Mr. Caprara was the Exclusive Editor of the California Western Law Review and published in the journal for his comment, “Surf’s Up: The Implications of Tort Liability in the Unregulated Sport of Surfing.” In addition, Mr. Caprara worked for Qualcomm’s Strategic Intellectual Property Division, assisting the team’s business development group with intellectual property research and acquisition. Mr. Caprara is admitted to practice before the California state courts and the Southern United States District Court and is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Caprara focuses his practice on bankruptcy and civil litigation.
Michael Kim, Esq.
Mr. Kim received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine and Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law in San Diego. He served as an advocate for the indigent and homeless youth in conjunction with the University of San Diego Children’s Advocacy Institute. He is also a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Award for providing legal services to the disadvantaged. Prior to entering private practice he spent a number of years in the consumer electronics industry, including working in the Strategic Intellectual Property Division of Qualcomm, Inc. Mr. Kim is admitted to practice before California state courts, the Central United States District Court, and the Southern United States District Court and is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Korean American Bar Association of San Diego. Mr. Kim focuses his practice on bankruptcy and civil litigation.
